Stories from the Trail

In the words of the leaders and families who've walked it with us.

Every trek is different, shaped by the youth who walk it. Here's what some of the leaders who've served with us had to say when they came home.

Trek Leader

Prayer when it mattered most

"We did an excellent job incorporating prayer when there were problems, I think those experiences will stick with everyone. Having the youth in charge of the firesides was a highlight, and pairing a leader with each young man worked beautifully. The food was awesome, and the calories were just right."

Trek Leader

Truly life-molding

"It was a great experience, I can truly say life-molding. I love rubbing shoulders with great leaders and great youth like we had the privilege of serving. Backpacking is truly like life; there are so many lessons I take away from every trip like this."

, Nelson

Trek Leader

Focused from day one

"Our group was focused from day one, on prayer, on one another, and on the goal. When pain came, they prayed; when rain came, they prayed. We had the chance to read, ponder, and serve others, and it turned out to be one of the most successful treks we've done."

In Their Words

What the youth take away

When we asked the youth what the week was really about, their answers said it best: spiritual growth. Strength in numbers. Learning to love your brother through service. That you can do hard things. Personal revelation. A once-in-a-lifetime experience.

That's why we climb.
