The Adventure
Six Nights on the Autumn Ridgeline
This is a true point-to-point backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail at the peak of fall color, carrying everything you need on your back from shelter to shelter. Youth climb through hardwood forests turning crimson and gold, top out on open balds and rocky outcrops for long ridge views, and log real trail miles day after day. It's the trip where a youth learns that they can carry their own pack up a mountain and want to do it again tomorrow.
A Day Here
Break Camp, Climb, Make Camp Again
Days begin with hot breakfast and breaking down camp as a team, then hiking a planned five-to-eight mile section of the AT with rest stops at overlooks and trail shelters. Guides teach map reading, pacing, and Leave No Trace along the way, and the group refills water at cold mountain springs. Afternoons end at the next campsite, where everyone pitches in on setting up tents and cooking dinner as the temperature drops and the stars come out.
All Included
Packs, Tents, and Trail Meals Provided
We provide the full backpacking kit: pack, tent, sleeping bag and pad, stoves, and cookware, all sized and fitted before the first mile. Certified guides carry group gear, navigation, and a full first-aid kit, and all trailhead transport and shuttle logistics between the start and end points are arranged. Every calorie-dense trail meal and snack is planned and packed by us, so parents only need to send layers, boots, and a rain jacket.
Safe & For Whom
For Motivated Youth Ready to Go Farther
Guides hold wilderness first-responder and Leave No Trace certifications and maintain a small group with a low ratio so pacing flexes to the slowest hiker, not the fastest. This trip suits youth 13 to 18 who are reasonably active and up for multi-day effort; prior backpacking is not required, but the willingness to carry a pack and camp in cool fall nights is. We share a simple pre-trip conditioning plan, and guides adjust mileage and rest to keep the whole group moving together and safe.
